Where to find it

Open a project, go to its Quotes tab, and click AI Estimate.

Before you can generate one

AI Estimate needs a completed measurement report on the project: an EagleView, RoofScope, GAF, or HOVER report your account ordered, dimensions someone entered by hand, or a measurement report document uploaded to the project that the numbers could actually be read from. Without one, the screen tells you so and points you at the project's Dimensions tab to order a report or enter dimensions; you can also upload a report to the project's documents instead.

What it reads and prices

It builds a line by line takeoff of what the roof needs, in what quantity, computed from your measurement report. Every line shows the calculation behind its number (its "basis"), never a bare figure with nothing to back it.

Each line is then priced two ways:

1. Material cost, from a connected supplier's live synced price when you have one connected for that product, or your own item catalog's cost otherwise.
2. A customer sell price, by running that cost through your account's quote-template margin policy (profit margin and overhead).

If none of your quote templates carries a usable margin, the estimate says so ("No margin configured") and shows cost, not a customer price, until you set one.

A line the takeoff can't match to a catalog item, or can't compute a defensible quantity for, still shows up rather than being dropped: it's flagged as needing pricing or needing a quantity, so the gap is visible instead of hidden inside a total.

Good, Better, Best

Alongside the base line up, the page offers three complete roof system options built from products you actually stock: Good, Better, and Best. Only the field shingle and its cap product change between them; the measured scope and every other line stay identical, so a tier is a product swap, not a different estimate. Which of your products count as good, better, or best is read off your own catalog and connected suppliers, not a fixed brand list.

What still needs a person

This is a starting point, not a finished quote:

• Review every unpriced and needs-quantity line before sending anything. A needs-quantity line is carried onto a saved document at a placeholder quantity of 1, specifically so it can't disappear; it still needs a real number from you.
• Read the assumptions and exclusions panel. It lists openly what the estimate assumed (a waste percentage, a field-shingle system) and what it deliberately left out, and it's meant to be checked before the numbers go in front of a customer.
• Confirm the margin. If "No margin configured" is showing, or you've overridden the margin for this one estimate, the figures are cost, or a one-off number, not your standard price, until you check them.
• The photos on the document are pulled from the project's files and ranked automatically for the cover and gallery. They illustrate the document; they don't feed the takeoff.

Saving it

Save as draft quote adds a new quote to the project's Quotes tab. Nothing is sent to the customer at that point: you land on the quote to price whatever's left, preview the document, and send it for signature when it's ready. Line edits, product swaps, and a margin override made on the estimate screen apply only to what you save; reloading the page regenerates the estimate from scratch and drops anything you hadn't saved yet.

Asking Trussi AI instead

You can also ask the in-app assistant to build an estimate for a project. It previews the same breakdown (lines, basis, assumptions, totals) and only saves once you confirm. Saving through the assistant creates the quote and additionally builds a shareable proposal document from it, handing you links to both. Once a quote exists, you can describe a correction in your own words and ask the assistant to apply it; it reports back anything it couldn't.

Who can do this

Opening AI Estimate takes View on Worksheet. Saving a draft quote from it, or asking Trussi AI to build or revise one, takes Create on Worksheet. Generating photo captions from this screen additionally takes Modify on Project Files (see the article on photo captions and usage limits).
